Program Overview

What is included, who it is for, and how it works.

Who is this program for

The Career Design Method™ is for high school and university students, typically ages 16 to 22, who are exploring what comes next. Some are choosing post-secondary programs, others are considering trades, gap years, or direct to work paths.

Students often arrive feeling unsure, overwhelmed by options, or second guessing themselves. This structured five session program provides a clear process to support thoughtful, informed decisions.

Delivered through The Career Design Studio™, The Career Design Method provides a structured framework to help students understand themselves, compare realistic options, and move forward with more confidence.

What is included in the program

  • Five 60 minute one on one sessions (virtual by Zoom)

  • MBTI® (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®) and Strong Interest Inventory® assessments

  • Personalized Career Identity Report™ summarizing the student’s Career Fit Themes™ and Career Identity Statements™

  • Career Confidence Plan™ outlining aligned pathways and next steps

Sessions are typically spaced one to two weeks apart to allow time for homework and preparation.

Full program details are outlined on the How It Works page.

What if students do not know what they want to do

This is a common starting point. Many students begin without direction, which is completely normal.

The program teaches a process for exploring interests, testing ideas, and evaluating fit. Students do not need to arrive with a plan. The work is designed to help them build one.

Will students leave the program with a single career direction

Not always. The goal is not to choose one final answer. It is to teach students a decision process they can return to as they grow.

Some students finish with one clear direction. Others finish with a shortlist of aligned options. Both outcomes are useful, because every student leaves with a clearer sense of their strengths and a framework they can use at future decision points.

Is this coaching or counselling

The Career Design Method is a consulting program. It is not therapy or counselling.

While the program is informed by training in clinical counselling and career development, it is not delivered under a mental health designation and does not treat mental health concerns.

If therapeutic support is needed, referrals can be provided.

How is this different from traditional career counselling

Career counselling is valuable and often offered session by session, sometimes with insurance coverage.

The Career Design Method is structured differently. It is a private pay, five session program with a defined beginning, middle, and end. The focus is teaching students a repeatable framework for career decisions, supported by professional assessments and personalized reports.

Students learn to generate hypotheses, test options, evaluate fit, and adjust as they grow. This structured format often creates stronger momentum than open ended sessions.

Is this program suitable for students with anxiety, ADHD, or learning differences

Yes. Many students with anxiety, attention challenges, or learning differences benefit from the structure, pacing, and personalization of this program.

The program is not a substitute for therapy. If mental health treatment is required, referrals can be offered. Students are welcome to participate in the program alongside clinical support.

Pricing and Payment

Fee, payment options, and refund policy.

What does the full program cost

The program fee is $2,100 CAD plus GST, due 48 hours before the first session.

This includes all sessions, assessments, reports, worksheets, parent involvement, and follow-up support.

See Program Overview for full details.

What forms of payment do you accept

Credit card payments are processed securely through Stripe. E-transfer is available on request.

Full payment must be received at least 48 hours before the first session to confirm the booking.

Is this program covered under insurance

No. This is a private pay consulting program and is not eligible for extended health coverage.

Many families view it as an investment in a skill their student will use throughout their career. It can also reduce the likelihood of costly detours, such as program changes or extra semesters.

Are payments refundable

No. Payments are non-refundable.

Because each program involves licensed assessments and reserved session times, the policy protects preparation time and program quality.

If you are uncertain about fit, please book a free consult before enrolling.

What if we are dissatisfied with the program

The program provides structured guidance and personalized support. Most students experience meaningful progress, although results vary based on each student’s engagement and starting point.

Because preparation is individualized and space is limited, we do not offer outcome based guarantees, and the program remains non-refundable.

If unsure, booking a free consult is recommended.

Booking

How enrollment, scheduling, and rescheduling work.

How do we book sessions

Once payment is received, enrollment is confirmed and you will receive a private booking link for Session 1.

After Session 1, you will receive the booking link for Sessions 2 to 5, scheduled one session at a time.

Sessions are typically spaced one to two weeks apart.

What if we need to reschedule

Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice.

If less notice is provided or a session is missed, that session is forfeited. A paid make up session ($200 CAD plus GST) is available if the student wishes to complete the missed work.

Because each session builds on the last, the make up session must be completed before moving on to the next session. Students cannot skip sessions or continue the program without completing the missed material.

If an emergency arises, please reach out. Support will be offered within reasonable limits.

How long do we have to complete the program

All five sessions must be completed within three months of Session 1.

Most students finish in six to eight weeks.

Short pauses are fine as long as the program is completed within this timeframe.

What if we cannot finish within three months

If a serious circumstance arises, such as illness or a family emergency, a short extension may be considered on a case by case basis.

Extensions are reserved for documented situations to maintain program structure and flow.

Can we book one session instead of the full program?

No. The Career Design Method is only offered as a complete five session program.

If a different type of support is needed, referrals can be provided.

Support and Communication

How students are supported and how parents are involved.

How does support work between sessions

Support is built into the program. Each session ends with clear next steps and tools.

Between sessions, students track questions and bring them to the next meeting.

The program does not include ongoing e-mail coaching. This structure reinforces independence, accountability, and decision making skills.

How are parents involved

The process is student led, with optional and structured points for parent involvement.

  • Parents may join the free 20 minute consult

  • A complimentary end of program parent consult is offered (with student consent)

  • Additional parent consults are available for $200 CAD plus GST (with student consent)

This model keeps students in the lead while supporting parent understanding.

Can you collaborate with a therapist, school counsellor, or support team

Yes, if appropriate and with written student consent.

Brief communication may occur when collaboration supports the student’s goals.

Will you check in after the program ends

Yes. One follow-up e-mail is included within two weeks of the final session.

Additional student or parent sessions can be booked within six months if further guidance is needed.

Post-Secondary Planning and Applications

How the program supports academic and career choices.

Can this program help with choosing the right post-secondary path?

Yes. A core focus is helping students understand their direction and identify pathways that match their interests, strengths, and values.

Do you help with university and college applications

Application support is not included.

The program helps students narrow options and build direction. For application review or admissions strategy, referrals are available.

Do you support scholarship planning or essay review

No. These services are outside the scope of the program. Referrals can be provided.

Can you guide us on program selection, deadlines, or requirements

The program helps identify aligned programs and clarify direction.

Students are responsible for researching deadlines, prerequisites, and school specific requirements.

How many schools should my student apply to

There is no single correct number. Many students apply to four to eight schools depending on goals and resources.

A balanced list of reach, match, and safety options is recommended.

What if my student is applying outside Canada

The program applies globally.

We support students in exploring international options and identifying fit, and can refer to consultants for country specific admissions guidance.

Extras and Add-ons

Options for additional support.

What extras or add-ons are available
